Re: for ow swimmers and Red Mist fans

Thanks Paul Will do and keep taking a second off each week sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to come in on the tenth beep. I haven't signed up to guru yet as I still go to Emma's squad 3 yrs since you recommended time flies. Las 5 or 6 weeks took my weekly 10 x300 up to 10x 400 and stayed consist...

Re: for ow swimmers and Red Mist fans

[quote=" s.sciame " ] One of my favourite sets is the classic SS Red Mist 10x400m descending. Pros: it's a good indicator of current shape, gives confidence and offers plenty of time and laps to focus on technique and assess what works best over distance. Cons: it does not include fast swi...

Re: for ow swimmers and Red Mist fans

Thanks Salvo That makes sense CSS plus 5 I will try that. In squad we do endurance at CSS plus 4 to 6 and 10 x100 etc at CSS minus 4 so it's all in the same ballpark. I will set to plus 5 which for me is 2m07s my redmist were at2m05 last week ( having to have two weeks to hit it I missed by half a l...

Re: for ow swimmers and Red Mist fans

I will be giving this a go soon having done the Red mist set for last couple of months . I find changing the beeper disturbs my concentration so when I moved from 10x 300s to 400's a few weeks ago I just set it at CSS plus 4 and then dropped it a second per 100 each week . I had to repeat a couple o...

Re: Breathing Issues, drills and progression

Hi Tanethra
I don't know anything about the British Gas programme but the best thing about Ruth's is the facebook group - There is always someone on there at the same point as you and lots of help offered by those who have finished the program.

Re: Breathing Issues, drills and progression

Here's that video analysis March 2013 . In the December 8 lengths was an impossible task for me. Bambino plus zero to one mile made it possible.

Re: Breathing Issues, drills and progression

Hi Tanethra I would suggest you google "swim zero to one mile in 6 weeks" its a program by Ruth Kazeez. It also has its own facebook group. It works I promise. When I started swimming in 2011 I had all the issues you had . I did lots of drills etc but just couldn't get past 100m without ha...

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

I'll give that a go too NC

What mode do I use the tempo trainer , strokes per min or time per length?

Should the whole month be with fins and paddles ? It feels a bit like cheating .
Cheers Woody

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

Hi Mike Which watch are you using for the info on your graph? I use a Garmin 920xt but don't get graphs like that with 100m splits in.The 10x400 I've been doing lately are starting to be straight lines which I like each one same pace. I still breathe to one side but alternate sides each length. The ...

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

Wow You wouldn't have employed Alex Ferguson at Man Utd either. Sorry to have provoked such a reaction I genuinely believe having looked at your videos and seen Adam Swim from both above and underwater you could find a portion of his stroke that would give you those 2 seconds. Also I would not group...

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

Hi NC I still think you would find a little something from him if you met up with him before next years aquamasters. You've already met him this year so why not take it a bit further next year and get in the pool together. It's the easiest thing in the world for us humans to do to find the negative ...

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

Thanks NC Perhaps next year at auto masters you may take the chance to study Adam Walker who is not anything like TI although others seem to think he is. I say this because I often find in other areas of my life where I am top of my game I occasionally meet someone who can show me or tell me somethi...

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

Technique is needed to be changed if you make plauteau. NC. At a much lower level of swimming than you Nightcrawler I have reached a plateau several times and each time taken a break to look at my swimming from a different direction. My journey has been TI , local coaches, Swimsmooth, TI second vis...

Re: for ow swimmers and Red Mist fans

First time I did the 10 x 400 I was exhausted both physically and mentally. It was a couple of years ago prob took me close to 2 hrs. I said never again so backed it back to 10 x 300 which was hard but do able. It's only last five weeks I have made myself do the 10 x400 it's 1 hr 35 mins at last wee...

Re: Nightcrawler's 2017 Season

Great link Salvo I keep thinking about signing up to the guru but feel it would conflict with my squad sessions. My swimming is at a much lower level I have only been swimming properly for 5 years and consistently for 3 . I swim at squad on a Sunday and 3 other days a week totalling around 11000 on ...

Re: for ow swimmers and Red Mist fans

Looks a great set I do the red mist every Monday built it up from 10 x 300 to 400 a few weeks ago. but with one beep rests having it beep at 25m pace . I particularly like the way you leave the beeper set and ignore on slower or faster lengths as it does disturb my swimming fiddling with it during t...
