Re: Correct/help me with freestyle ( VIDEOS INSIDE )

Hi Micker, great streamline push off. It's difficult to tell on videos but I think I see: Hand crossing over on entry rather than going forward in front of the shoulder Losing support of the lead arm when breathing If you are aware that you are dropping your elbow then you are right that your catch ...

Re: Introductions - Say Hello

Hi Andrew, welcome to the forum. If you post your question on the main Talk Swimming site you should get more replies and maybe Gavin one of the SS coaches might reply. Personally I think both are standard you just have to know if your time is yards or metres. I switch between pools that are yards a...

Re: trying to improve my breastsroke and swimming

Hi, if you like videos go to YouTube GoSwim breaststroke and you'll find lots of ideas and excellent advice. There''s Ian McLeods Swimming Anatomy book which will answer all your questions on muscles, dry land exercises and strokes. It's full of diagrams. One of the errors in breaststroke that peopl...

Re: CSS Suggestions Required

Have you looked at the Olympic distance training plan on the SwimSmooth app? There's usually a 7 day free trial period. It might be worth waiting until the last version which Adam says is coming soon. It will give structure to your session and probably answer your questions. I suspect you're in the ...

Hi

Did you do your 200 and 400 with a pullbuoy like your 1500? Just wondering if this could explain the difference.

Hi Kirsten,
You'd probably be better posting this on the Coaches Forum rather than getting non coaches advice.

Re: does everyone here subscribe to 'feel for the water'?

Totally agree Ducky. One of my favourites as an adult onset learner was 'Take on the "How far can you go?" Winter Challenge' October 2015. The only problem is that I'm always swimming in busy lanes so that had an impact on keeping up with the beep.

Re: Need some advice on Technique

Hi Red1, The quickest thing to do is to go to the swimsmooth.com website and look at the app. There's a 7 day free trial. I love the app. The app has a fault fixers section and in it you'll find the fixers for the poor body position, pressing on the arm when breathing etc. It shows videos, gives exp...

Hi Marting, I've just emailed the SwimSmooth team and Paul says it's only Mr Smooth at the moment with the combo frames.

Re: Swimming lessons, what to focus on ?

Hi Tom, Love reading about your progress. Have you tried the Fault Fixing Session for breath holding in the Swim Smooth App? You might not be breath holding but I found it really useful although I know I'm breathing out into the water (from an analysis). It still made a difference to my swim. Just a...

Lovely to hear your news and you are sounding so positive. Now you are back in the pool rather than the sea what are you working towards?

Re: My improvements under Emma of Swimsmooth

Hi Woody, Thanks for sharing your videos. I travel 160 miles down to see Emma and 160 miles back but it's worth it. Just wish I lived nearer. I look forward to hearing how you get on but particularly your "must tells". I enjoyed Emma's idea of singing nursery rhymes as I swam today but I r...

Re: Swimmers with VCD

Hi Brownie2.s VCD is getting more widely recognised and it is usual for it to be initially diagnosed as asthma but then recognised that medication isn't working. Although some asthmatics do have VCD as well. It is common in young females, particularly athletes and Olympians are known to have VCD. I ...

Re: Swinger, glider and shoulders?

Hi Tatti, I wish I could swim as well as you do already. Have you answered the questions at http://www.swimtypes.com/? This might help give you an answer as to your type. The best suggestion I have is to book yourself a swim analysis if you can. We're lucky in the UK as we've got a few coaches now a...

Re: How to counter frustration

Hi NMC,

Just looking at your video again. You have so many good things happening in your stroke I believe that if you just get your catch right frustration will be a thing of the past.

Re: How to counter frustration

Hi NMC, I can only speak from my own experience as I'm not a coach. When I watched your video I saw many similarities with my own swimming. I find it very difficult to keep going but my frustration is less now as I've managed to have a video analysis from one of the Swim Smooth coaches which was ama...
