Swimming type or classification

I am curious as to where I would fall. I have been doing 3-4 sprint triathlons each summer the last 3 years.
I regularly swim 2-3 times a week, normally around 1200 yards. I can swim 1600 yards without
stopping but I am SLOW. My 100 yard time is 2:30 and if I am swimming 1000 yards I am at a
pace of 3:00 per 100. Would I be considered a beginner or an intermediate?
Part of my being slow is my build. Although I have lost 100 ponds in the last 5 years I am
still heavy as a swimmer at 5'10 ans 220 lbs.

Hi there,

Could you post a video of you swimming and we can then assess your swim type? Alternatively read the Bambino or Overglider profiles as these match your swimming speed. I would suggest you were at the beginner end of the spectrum. I hope that helps.
